The German center back Mertesacker could be on his way to North London to play for Arsenal if everything goes planned. The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has bid ten million pounds for the German center back who is currently playing for Werder Bremen. As said before, the Arsenal manager also bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka with an offer of fourteen million pounds but it was rejected by the Everton manager David Moyes. It seems that Phil Jagielka will not be coming to Arsenal and as said by ESPN Star, Wenger has almost given hope of grabbing Jagielka.

Arsene is really running out of time as he urgently needs a defender and make his back line as stronger as he can despite getting Laurent Koscieny from Lorient which is a French Club for a transfer fee of ten million pounds. This is because he freed both of his experience defenders, William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre.

Mertesacker played a very major role for Germany in the World Cup back in South Africa which led the team to third place in the World Cup.
